Summary
The Ligue Professionnelle 2 known as Ligue 2 for short, and formerly known as Championnat National is the second highest division overall in the Algerian football league system. It is also one of two divisions making up the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), the other being Ligue Professionnelle the countrys top football division.
The 2011-12 season will be played between 16 teams, with the top three teams being promoted to the Ligue Professionnelle 1 and the bottom three teams being relegated to the Ligue Nationale du Football Amateur.
